Special section “Case Reports in Hybrid Operating Theatre”
I am delighted to have the opportunity to head the featured column of Hybrid Operating Theatre in Management of Thoracic Diseases in AME Case Reports (ACR). Hybrid operating theatre with advance imaging capabilities is a relative novelty in thoracic surgery. Its importance is being increasingly recognized as more small pulmonary lesions are being detected through lung cancer screening and heightened patient awareness. Furthermore, more and more pulmonary conditions can potentially be managed through the endobronchial route, thus the demand for intra-procedural high definition imaging is rising. As this area of thoracic surgery grows, we shall be witnessing rapid changes to; how we perform a particular procedure, selecting the ideal patient to treat; techniques and approaches; availability of new tools; that may all be expeditiously presented in this journal in order to provide up to date information for clinicians. In addition, tips, tricks and pitfalls of interesting cases can be shared with others with similar interests. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to contribute towards this endeavor.
